Awareness-raising session held

Manama : The Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) along with the Ministry of Industry, Commerce & Tourism; Consumer Protection Directorate held an awareness-raising session on consumer protection laws yesterday at the Bait Al Tijjar.

The joint session was held in the presence of Jawad Al Hawaj, Chairman of Trade and Retail Sector Committee and board member of BCCI with Sana Ali Jabrey, Director of Consumer Protection and Safa Safar, Head of Consumption Awareness heading the panel.

 “The awareness session is really vital, as we need the consumers as well as the business owners to be aware of the rules and regulation in order to avoid any kind of dispute in the future,” said Jawad Al Hawaj, Chairman of Trade and Retail Sector Committee and Board Member of BCCI.  “Through this session, we were aiming to enhance the awareness among consumers and traders and create a fair and transparent relation between the two parties. The sessions highlighted the rights and duties that related to consumers as well as the commercial sector. We illustrated a few real life examples for the traders to know how to carry out their job,” said Snan Ali AlJabrey, Director of Consumer Protection.

“We believe that awareness is as essential as solving the problem which would further enable the consumers to protect their rights. As of now the Directorate of Consumer Protection is able to solve 90 per cent and we are further aiming to protect the rights of both the commercial sector as well as the consumers,” he added. The awareness session discussed several topics related to the consumer rights as well as evaluating the progress of the Directorate of consumer protection.
