Al Farooq Junction set to be reopened soon

ManamaAl Farooq Junction, formerly known as the Pearl Roundabout, will soon be thrown open for traffic. 

This is the third section of the Junction that would be reopened in the next two to three days. The first section of the junction was reopened in June 2015, the U-turn underneath the flyover on King Faisal Highway. 

Following the success of the first section, the second section was reopened in February 2016, a road through the Al Farooq Junction which was also reopened to ease the flow of traffic out of Manama Central Market to the main road. 

“The traffic lights have been tested as well as a few concrete barriers removed with parts of the area being cleared for the opening,” he said.

The Pearl Roundabout, that was demolished by the government on Mach 18, 2011, and following that the government announced that the roundabout would be replaced with traffic lights to ease congestion in the financial district, changing the name of the site to Al Farooq Junction.

Earler, the public was restricted from accessing Al Farooq Junction as the area was sealed off by  forces for security reasons.
