Action against school for flouting rules

ManamaClasses at a private school in the Capital Governorate were suspended by Education Ministry after the school was found violating rules stipulated by the government.

The ministry released a press statement yesterday announcing that Education Minister Dr. Majid Al Nuaimi approved the suspension of classes of the intermediate and secondary stages in Al Majd International School.

The minister’s decision came in line with the recommendations of Acting Undersecretary for Education and Curriculum Dr. Fawzi Al Jowder in regards to the school, which “didn’t rectify the violations detected in it”.

“The recommendations included suspending classes in the intermediate and secondary stages of the school, starting from the next academic year and applying for the amendment of the license granted to the school by cancelling these two stages permanently. The school will only be allowed to teach the kindergarten and primary education stages until the conditions of the two suspended stages are rectified,” the statement mentioned.

Other procedures taken against the school included “obliging the school to refund parents of pupils studying in the suspended stages, suspending registration for new primary stage students for the next academic year and providing the ministry with proof of each step taken.”

“The ministry affirms that it will decisively deal with all breaches of any private educational institution that would affect the security and safety of students, and the quality of educational services provided to them,” the Ministry added.
