PM honours scribes on Bahrain Press Day

ManamaBahraini journalists deserve accolades for their keenness to shoulder patriotic responsibilities and dedication in the service of the homeland, His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa said yesterday at a function marking the Bahrain Press Day.

Honouring the winners of the second edition of Khalifa bin Salman Press Award at the function, HRH Prime Minister said: “His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s belief in the importance of the role of the Press and media paved the way for journalism in the Kingdom which plays a constructive role in society by exercising freedom of opinion and expression allowed under the Constitution.”

The Premier said that honouring journalists is a token of appreciation for all those who played their role in enlightening the society, maintaining the Kingdom’s security and stability.

The progress of the Bahraini Press is based on the achievements of successive generations of journalists and columnists who had been committed to place national interests above everything else, HRH Premier said.

HRH Premier praised journalists for their in-depth analyses, impartiality and ability to deal with technology, urging them to take inspiration from pioneers by following their footsteps in countering attempts to undermine national unity.

HRH Premier highlighted the importance of clarifying facts and shedding light on the challenges faced by the Kingdom, affirming that the national press has succeeded in enlightening the public and uncovering attempts to distort reality, subvert security and stability and sow seeds of divisions in the Bahraini society.
