Bahrain to host first GCC Cup Indoor Skydiving Competition

ManamaBahrain will host the ‘first Arab Championship and first GCC Cup Indoor Skydiving 2017’ from 10 to 12 May at the Gravity, the organisers revealed yesterday. 

The event is being organised by Arab Aero Sports Federation in collaboration with Gravity, GCC Aero Sports Organising Committee and Bahrain Air Sports Federation. 

The announcement was made during a joint press conference by Khawla Al Hammadi, General Manager of Gravity, Dr Mubarak Suwailim, President of Arab Aero Sports Federation, Shaikh Salman Al Khalifa, President of Bahrain Air Sports Federation, Yousif Al Hammadi, President of GCC Aero Sports Organising Committee and Zoe Edwards, Business Development Manager at Gravity. 

Al Hammadi told DT News that the event would help bring more such events to the Kingdom.

“We hope that this will only be the start of more tournaments.”

He mentioned that organisers are expecting a number of professionals from Arab countries to participate in the event

“We encourage everyone in the Kingdom to be a part of the event and live the atmosphere of competition,” he added.

Shaikh Salman Al Khalifa said that hosting this event will highlight the Kingdom’s passion in sports. “We are trying to put Bahrain on the international sports map,” he said. 

“In a long run, we are hoping that through the success of this event we could be the destination for organising the World Championship that would be held in 2018,” he added.
