Six-month jail for robbery in car

Manama

A man, who robbed a car while it was occupied by its owner, has had his six months' imprisonment confirmed. The latter was reportedly sleeping in his car, which was parked nearby a Manama hotel. The doors of the vehicle were unlocked, and the defendant seized this opportunity to rob a wallet containing BD200, a mobile phone, perfume bottles, a wristwatch and a headset.

He, however, was identified from the CCTV cameras installed in the hotel. He was seen leaving the hotel, before getting inside the car and fleeing again. Finger prints lifted from the scene were found to be matching the defendant's hand.

The High Criminal Court earlier sentenced him to six months in jail, and the High Criminal Appeals Court has supported the initial verdict.
