Public parking tariffs to be doubled in Bahrain
Manama : The public parking fee in Bahrain will be doubled by next month, according to Minister of Interior, Lt General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa.
The drivers will have to shell out BD0.1 (100 Fils) instead of BD0.05 (50 Fils) for half an hour at public parking metres in the Capital, Southern and Muharraq Governorates.
Simultaneously, the one hour parking fee will be increased to BD0.2 (200 Fils) instead of the previous BD.1 (100 Fils). However, the maximum parking time allowed, two hours, will remain the same.
The resolution has been published in the Official Gazette on January 12 and will be in effect from February 12.
The General Directorate of Traffic, in coordination with Roads Planning and Design Directorate in Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry will be in charge of implementing the new decision.
