Misconduct: sentence reduced

Manama : The High Criminal Court replaced the jail sentence issued against a driving instructor with BD20 fine after he was found guilty of misconduct.

The defendant, in his forties, was referred to court after a woman alleged that the he had been flattering her eyes during her driver’s license lessons in his car.

“He would always ask me if I was wearing eye lenses, or the colour of my eyes was natural. Then he asked me for my phone number so he can communicate with me on WhatsApp. But I refused,” the 28-year-old woman said, stating: “In my last lesson, he asked me to remove my Abaya and my head cover. He asked me would you like to sleep freely?”

The woman told her husband, who in turn informed police. The instructor didn’t deny requesting to communicate with her on whatsApp or praising her eyes. But he claimed that he asked her to remove her Abaya so she could drive comfortably.
