Historical friendship

Manama : India’s friendship with Bahrain is historical; it is a relation that began thousands of years ago,” said Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh, who is on an official visit to the Kingdom.

The Indian minister was speaking while addressing members of the Indian community at the Indian School Bahrain.

“I have seen many developed countries, but after coming to Bahrain I was pleased to see the developments here,” Singh, who is on a three-day tour to the Kingdom, added.

Earlier in the day, he was received by Interior Minister Lt General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa on his arrival at Bahrain International Airport.

Speaking to the Indian community members present there, he said, “I am so happy too see all my brothers and sisters here in Bahrain. In my agenda for this visit, meeting my fellow Indians here has been a priority. I commend you for earning the love of Bahrainis and for your achievements here,” he said.

He assured Indians that the country’s economy is growing at a rapid rate. Now, India is the fastest growing economy in the world. “India has become a favourable destination for investments, our country attracted $51 billion FDI in one year, which is more than countries like US and China,” the minister said

He stressed that the international community must come together to tackle terrorism. “Terrorism is a global issue, which the international community has to work together to tackle,” he said.
