Over BD270,500 raised at RCO’s 3rd charity auction

Manama : A total of BD270,500 was raised as part of the Art Exhibition’s third charity auction organised by Royal Charity Organisation (RCO). The proceeds collected for student paintings will be donated to over 5,000 orphans and widows.

It was held under the patronage of Supreme Council for Youth & Sport Chairman, Bahrain Olympic Committee President and Royal Charity Organisation Chairman HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

Held in association with Sovereign Art Foundation, the auction sold the works of art contributed by over 16,000 students, in the presence of several Ministers and officials.

HH Shaikh Nasser thanked His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for his patronage of humanitarian work and care for orphans, widows and the needy, providing them with all forms of support in order to ensure the good quality of their lives.

He also lauded the support from the government, led by Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and the supported by Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

HH Shaikh Nasser praised the exhibition’s concept in reinforcing the culture of charity work in students through artistic contributions. The exhibition aims to discover and develop artistic talents and imparts expertise on the participants, besides encouraging them to be more creative and innovative.

He also commended the cooperation by the Ministry of Education and the Sovereign Trust Consultancy, and all public and private schools for organising this charity auction for the third year in a row.

RCO Secretary-General Dr. Mustafa Al Sayed said the third edition became a reality as a result of the success achieved during previous exhibitions. 

This year 10 schools and education departments participated in the event including Ibn Khuldoon National School, Shaikha Hessa Girls School, Riffa Views International School, Al Raja Bahrain School, St. Christopher’s School, Al Hekma School, Al Noor International School, Centre for Gifted Student Center at the Education Ministry, and the Centre for Gifted Students with Special Needs at the Education Ministry.

Sovereign Trust Consultancy  also awarded BD500 to four students who won the Sovereign Art Charity Award. These included Al Hanoof Al Jalal from Shaikha Hessa Girls School, Lily Williamson from St. Christopher’s School, Yasser Mohammed from Al Raja School and Hisham Ebrahim from Muharraq Secondary School for Boys.
