Feb 14 should serve as a bond between govt and people

Several lawmakers have stressed the importance of February 14, calling it a day that should serve as a powerful bond between the government and the people of Bahrain.

According to MP Mohammed Al Maarfi, the day sends a strong message to the people of Bahrain that they should take care of their homeland themselves and never listen to those foreign elements, who want destruction and political turmoil in the country.

“These are the elements who incite our youth to resort to street violence and destroy in moments what we have built in decades,” says Al Maarfi.

“In the end, every citizen needs to understand that HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa are always looking forward to watching Bahrainis as one family,” he added.

He said the people of Bahrain should always extend their hands for the development of the nation.

“The National Action Charter (NAC) is a gift by HM the King to the people of Bahrain. The charter calls for open mindedness and global perspective,” he says.

Al Maarfi said Iran had always been creating problems for all the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and particularly for Bahrain.

“We are asking Iran to concentrate on their own issues, instead of poking their nose into our internal matters,” he said.

MP Jamal Dawood said the real message on the occasion of NAC Day is that all the Bahrainis should come forward to save their country and be united to protect the Kingdom from the external dangers, especially from the Iranian interference in the internal affairs of Bahrain.

He added that Iran was wreaking havoc with the security of the whole region by creating political turmoil in war-torn countries such as Iraq, Syria and Yemen.

He said that the NAC gave the people of Bahrain the gift of democracy and an opportunity to discuss all their issues together in the Parliament.

“It helps us to make Bahrain a better place not only for this generation, but also for all the generations to come,” he said.

Dawood added that whatever problems Bahrain was facing, the solution should come through the government and the parliament, not through demonstrations and violence.
