HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, spoke by phone with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, taking stock of preparations for a milestone moment in Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix history: its 22nd edition, set to be hosted in Malaysia.
The event carries the blessing of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar, underscoring the significance both nations place on the race.
HRH the Crown Prince thanked Prime Minister Anwar for Malaysia's strong backing in bringing the global motorsport event to life. The two leaders also touched on the broader Bahrain-Malaysia relationship and avenues for continued partnership across shared priorities.
The call followed closely on the heels of a hands-on inspection in Malaysia, where PM Anwar Ibrahim toured the Sepang International Circuit alongside Shaikh Salman bin Isa Al Khalifa, CEO of the Bahrain International Circuit, and Hamad Yaqoob Al-Mahmeed, Director-General of the Office of the Prime Minister. The visit covered final logistics and track readiness ahead of welcoming teams, fans, and delegations.
The race, carrying both the Kingdom's name and that of national carrier Gulf Air, reflects Bahrain's growing footprint in global motorsport and its track record of staging world-class racing events.
