Indian Embassy Celebrates Milestones in Bahrain Ties
The Embassy of India in Bahrain is celebrating a series of milestones this year, highlighting advances in consular services, defence cooperation and cultural engagement that have strengthened ties between India and the Kingdom.
At a recent interaction with Indian community associations and painting artists at The Indian embassy, the Indian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain, H.E. Mr.Vinod Kurian Jacob said the embassy is marking one year since the opening of the new Indian Consular Application Centre at Bahrain Mall, the first such facility to be established in Bahrain in 15 years.
Another key milestone is the first anniversary of the electronic visa (e-Visa) system for Bahraini nationals. Since its launch, nearly 4,000 Bahraini citizens have used the facility, reflecting growing interest in travel to India and the convenience of the streamlined digital application process.
The ambassador also highlighted the embassy's Permanent Defence Exhibition, now in its third year. The current edition showcases the role of the Indian Armed Forces in national development, with a special focus on the Indian Navy-led Combined Task Force 154 (CTF-154) under the Combined Maritime Forces, which has been operating from Bahrain since February.
The embassy's Focus State and Union Territory Initiative, launched nearly three years ago, has now featured almost every Indian state and union territory. The ongoing edition spotlights Kerala and Puducherry, showcasing their culture, tourism, heritage and investment opportunities. The ambassador noted that while the initiative was originally expected to cover all states and union territories within three years, the schedule was affected by regional developments earlier this year.
Cultural diplomacy continues to remain a major pillar of the embassy's engagement, with its annual painting exhibitions entering their third year. This year's programme comprises three exhibitions celebrating the longstanding friendship between India and the Kingdom of Bahrain through art.
