Health Chief Visits Muharraq Specialised Care Centre
Inspection highlights long-term care and rehabilitation services for elderly patients

Supreme Council of Health Chairman Lieutenant General Doctor Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa visited the Muharraq Specialised Healthcare Centre to review its healthcare and rehabilitation services, assess operational readiness, and inspect its facilities as part of ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of healthcare services in Bahrain.
Accompanying him on the visit were Health Minister Dr Jalila bint Al Sayed Jawad Hassan, Chairman of the Government Hospitals Board of Trustees Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, Government Hospitals Chief Executive Dr Mariam Athbi Al Jalahma, and several senior health sector officials.
Elderly Care a Priority
Shaikh Mohammed reaffirmed that providing comprehensive healthcare and rehabilitation services for patients requiring long-term care, particularly senior citizens, remains a key priority in Bahrain's healthcare development strategy.
He praised the centre for delivering specialised services that reflect the Kingdom's commitment to improving healthcare quality and providing patient-centred services that meet international standards.
Supporting an Integrated Health System
Health Minister Dr Jalila Hassan described the Muharraq Specialised Healthcare Centre as an important addition to Bahrain's healthcare network, highlighting its role in strengthening continuity of care and improving the efficiency and quality of health services.
She said the centre supports the Kingdom's vision of building a more integrated and sustainable healthcare system.
Comprehensive Rehabilitation Services
During the visit, officials reviewed the centre's specialised long-term care and rehabilitation services for elderly patients and individuals requiring ongoing medical support.
The facility offers a wide range of services, including physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, occupational therapy, laboratory testing, radiology, pharmacy services, and specialist outpatient clinics within a comprehensive treatment environment aligned with international best practices.
The delegation also toured the centre's various departments and received briefings on its healthcare delivery model and rehabilitation programmes designed to meet the needs of patients requiring specialised and continuous care.
