Applied Science University Ranked First Among Private Universities in Bahrain

Joint First Locally in THE Impact Rankings 2026

Applied Science University has achieved a new global milestone, adding to its distinguished record of academic accomplishments, by ranking first among private universities in the Kingdom of Bahrain and joint first locally in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2026. The University was ranked within the 101–200 band globally in the overall ranking, reflecting its advanced standing at both the local and international levels.

This ranking is one of the most prominent global classifications measuring universities’ impact in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, through their contributions to quality education, scientific research, community service, partnerships, governance, and initiatives that create a positive impact on society.

The results of the ranking highlighted Applied Science University’s excellence across a number of Sustainable Development Goals, where the University achieved strong performance in Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions; No Poverty; Quality Education; and Partnerships for the Goals. This confirms the University’s commitment to providing high-quality education, promoting applied scientific research, serving the community, and preparing graduates capable of contributing to national development and the labour market.

On this occasion, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Professor Waheeb Al-Khaja, and the President of Applied Science University, Professor Hatem Masri, extended their highest congratulations and blessings to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the Kingdom of Bahrain, may God protect and preserve him, and to His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, may God protect him. They affirmed that this achievement reflects the support, care, and attention given to the higher education sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain by the wise leadership, as well as the Kingdom’s commitment to developing education, strengthening competitiveness, and reinforcing Bahrain’s position as a distinguished regional hub for higher education.

The University also expressed its appreciation for the pivotal role played by the Higher Education Council, chaired by His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education, in supporting higher education institutions, encouraging continuous development, enhancing the quality of education, and strengthening the presence of Bahraini universities in global rankings, thereby contributing to raising the name of the Kingdom of Bahrain in international academic forums.

Professor Waheeb Al-Khaja, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, affirmed that this achievement is the result of a clear strategic vision, sustained institutional efforts, and continuous investment in the quality of education, academic infrastructure, international partnerships, and scientific research. He noted that Applied Science University continues to strengthen its role as a leading national educational institution contributing to the achievement of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s development aspirations.

For his part, Professor Hatem Masri, President of the University, stated that Applied Science University’s ranking as the first among private universities in Bahrain, and its position as joint first locally in this global ranking, reflects the University’s commitment to providing students with an outstanding educational experience based on quality, innovation, practical application, and strong alignment with the labour market.

He added that the University is proud of its graduates, students, academic staff, and administrative team, who represent the essence of this achievement. He affirmed that Applied Science University will continue to develop its academic programmes, expand its local and international partnerships, and enhance opportunities for students in training, employment, and entrepreneurship, making it a distinguished choice for students seeking high-quality university education in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

He further noted that this global progress comes at a time when the University continues to develop its academic programmes and introduce specialised disciplines that meet labour market needs, support future skills, and provide students with a modern learning environment that combines academic knowledge with practical application, enhancing their readiness to compete and succeed locally, regionally, and internationally.
