University of Bahrain ranks 7th globally

UNDP-backed programme strengthens sustainability education
 

UoB also ranked 23rd globally in SDG 4: Quality Education.

It was placed in the 101–200 band in the overall rankings.

The university ranked 85th in Asia and 17th in the Arab world.

The University of Bahrain achieved a significant global milestone, ranking seventh worldwide in Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 17: Partnerships for the Goals, according to the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2026. The university outperformed more than 1,600 higher education institutions globally.

The university also secured strong positions in other categories, ranking seventh among Arab universities and 23rd globally in SDG 4: Quality Education. In the overall standings, UoB was placed in the 101–200 band worldwide, ranked 85th in Asia, 17th in the Arab region, and maintained its position as the top-ranked university in Bahrain.

Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University of Bahrain, said the achievement reflects international recognition of the university’s growing role in building effective partnerships that support sustainability in education, scientific research, and community engagement.

He congratulated His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, highlighting that the success reflects the continued national support for the education sector.

Dr. Juma also praised the efforts of the university’s Board of Trustees, the Higher Education Council, administrative leadership, and staff, noting their contribution to strengthening the institution’s global standing in the rankings.
