Bahrain has welcomed the visit of US Secretary of State Marco Rubio as part of his regional tour and ahead of the GCC-US Ministerial Meeting, which the Kingdom will host on Thursday.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighted the longstanding friendship and strategic partnership between Bahrain and the United States, reaffirming the Kingdom’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral ties through the Comprehensive Security Integration and Prosperity Agreement (C-SIPA).

The ministry said the GCC-US Ministerial Meeting reflects the shared commitment of both sides to enhancing strategic cooperation and supporting regional security and stability. It also expressed appreciation for the efforts of US President Donald Trump to promote the peaceful resolution of regional and international conflicts through dialogue, diplomacy, and mutual understanding.

Bahrain further welcomed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the United States and Iran and expressed support for ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at reaching a peaceful and sustainable resolution to the Iranian crisis.

The ministry stressed that any long-term solution should be based on respect for state sovereignty, non-interference in internal affairs, adherence to the principles of good neighbourliness, and compliance with international law and the United Nations Charter.

It also underscored the importance of ensuring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, safeguarding international trade routes, and maintaining the stability of global energy and food supplies.

According to the ministry, continued diplomatic efforts would contribute to strengthening regional security, stability, peaceful coexistence, and prosperity for the peoples of the region and the wider world.
