Dr. Adel Abdulrahman Al Maawda, Deputy Chairman of the Legislative and Legal Affairs Committee at the Shura Council, participated in the preparatory committee meeting for the Eighth Conference of the Arab Parliament and Speakers of Arab Councils and Parliaments, held in Cairo under the chairmanship of Mohammed Ahmed Al Yamahi, Speaker of the Arab Parliament.

During the meeting, Dr. Al Maawda stressed the importance of adopting a unified Arab parliamentary stance to support the Palestinian cause and safeguard the sovereignty, security, and stability of Arab countries in the face of regional challenges.

He reaffirmed Bahrain’s longstanding support for the Palestinian cause and the Palestinian people’s right to establish an independent state, emphasising that a just and lasting solution to the Palestinian issue remains essential for achieving peace, security, and stability across the region.

Dr. Al Maawda noted that Arab countries, particularly the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, have consistently advocated for peace and constructive relations and were not parties to the recent regional conflict. He added that the escalation had negatively impacted security, stability, and development efforts throughout the region.

He also underscored the importance of Arab solidarity and the need for a clear parliamentary position that rejects actions threatening the sovereignty, security, and stability of Arab states.

The preparatory committee reviewed key topics expected to be discussed during the conference, including efforts to protect the security and sovereignty of Arab nations from external threats, developments in the Palestinian territories, and proposals aimed at strengthening Arab digital sovereignty and safeguarding national privacy amid rapid digital transformation.
