A delegation from Bahrain's parliamentary division, led by MP Ahmed Sabah Al Salloom, Chairman of the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee at the Council of Representatives, participated in the 20th Session of the Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States, held in Azerbaijan.
Al Salloom highlighted Bahrain's commitment to a balanced political approach under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and with the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He said Bahrain continues to promote dialogue, openness, and cooperation among nations while supporting regional and international security, stability, and peaceful solutions to global challenges.
He also praised the support of Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives and Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Bahraini Parliamentary Division delegation, in strengthening Bahrain's participation in regional and international parliamentary forums. He noted that such engagement enhances the exchange of expertise, strategic dialogue, and initiatives that advance joint Islamic parliamentary cooperation.
Al Salloom said the conference comes at a time of increasing global challenges, including political, economic, and humanitarian crises, underscoring the need for stronger coordination among Islamic parliaments and unified positions to support stability and sustainable development.
He stressed the importance of continued parliamentary support for the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights, while backing efforts aimed at achieving a just and comprehensive peace.
The Bahraini lawmaker also emphasised the need to address hate speech and extremism through greater dialogue among civilisations, cultures, and religions, as well as by promoting tolerance and coexistence. He called for enhanced cooperation and coordination among member parliaments to develop unified positions on key regional and international issues.
Al Salloom noted that parliamentary diplomacy remains an effective tool for supporting just causes, strengthening international engagement, and contributing to development and stability through joint international action.
