Gulf Bloc Stresses Somalia’s Security and Sovereignty

The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) reaffirmed the bloc’s support for Somalia’s security, stability, sovereignty and territorial integrity during a meeting with the Somali ambassador to Saudi Arabia.

Jassim Mohammed Al-Budaiwi met Mohammed Amin Shaikh Osman, Somalia’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia, on Sunday at the GCC General Secretariat headquarters in Riyadh.

The talks focused on strengthening relations between the GCC and Somalia and exploring ways to further develop cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

Both sides also reviewed the latest regional and international developments and discussed a range of shared concerns.

During the meeting, Mr Al-Budaiwi stressed the GCC’s continued commitment to supporting Somalia in efforts aimed at reinforcing its stability and safeguarding its sovereignty. He said such efforts were essential to ensuring a dignified life for the Somali people.

The Somali ambassador, in turn, expressed appreciation for the GCC states’ continued support across various sectors and their broader efforts to assist Somalia at multiple levels.

The meeting comes amid ongoing diplomatic engagement between Gulf states and Somalia, reflecting efforts to deepen cooperation and coordination on regional issues.
