Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has called for unity, resilience and sustained reform as Pakistan marked Pakistan Day today, reaffirming the country’s commitment to economic stability, national security and regional peace.

In his message, Prime Minister Sharif described the occasion as a defining moment in the nation’s history, rooted in the Lahore Resolution, which laid the foundation for the creation of Pakistan.

He paid tribute to the leadership of Muhammad Ali Jinnah and the sacrifices of the country’s forefathers.

Milestone

“23rd of March holds the status of a significant milestone in the history of South Asia,” he said, adding that the resolution “instilled such determination among Muslims” that led to the creation of Pakistan within seven years.

Highlighting Pakistan’s journey since independence, the prime minister underscored the country’s resilience and progress.

“From a nascent state to becoming a nuclear power, our journey reflects steadfastness and iron resolve,” he said, noting that the nation continues to move towards a brighter future.

Prime Minister Sharif pointed to improving economic indicators as a sign of recovery and stability.

Evidence

“A consistent decline in inflation, increased investors’ confidence, and positive economic indicators are evidence that we are moving in the right direction,” he said, attributing the progress to reforms, prudent policies and public confidence.

On security, the prime minister praised the armed forces for their role in defending the country, referencing recent military operations.

He said Pakistan’s response to threats demonstrated that its defence remains “impregnable” and its resolve “unshakable,” particularly in countering terrorism and safeguarding borders.

Peace and dialogue

Reaffirming Pakistan’s foreign policy stance, Prime Minister Sharif said the country remains committed to peace and dialogue, while expressing solidarity with Palestine.

He urged national unity and collective effort to achieve longterm progress, stressing that a determined nation can overcome any challenge and build a strong and prosperous future.
