Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari has called for national unity, resilience and renewed commitment to stability and progress as the country marks Pakistan Day today.
In a message to the nation, he paid tribute to the historic Pakistan Resolution, describing it as the foundation of the country’s creation, and honoured the sacrifices of those who fought for independence.
“Pakistan Day reminds us that unity and solidarity are the most important elements in transforming national resolve into reality,” President Zardari said, urging citizens to draw strength from the nation’s past achievements in overcoming challenges.
Reflecting on Pakistan’s journey since independence in 1947, the president highlighted the country’s progress in strengthening state institutions, enhancing defence capabilities and combating terrorism.
He noted that Pakistan had demonstrated resilience in the face of adversity, including conflicts and natural disasters, through collective effort and determination.
Addressing security concerns, President Zardari reaffirmed Pakistan’s stance against terrorism and external threats.
“We will not allow any group to use foreign soil for actions against Pakistan and will completely eliminate those who sponsor terrorism,” he said, underlining the government’s commitment to safeguarding national security and stability.
Institutions
The Pakistan leader also stressed the need to strengthen democratic institutions, uphold the rule of law and promote economic and social development, including reducing inequality and empowering women.
He called on the nation to uphold the guiding principles of unity, faith and discipline to build a stronger and more prosperous Pakistan, while paying tribute to national heroes and those who sacrificed their lives for the country.
