Man Accused of Assaulting Brother Faces Verdict

The First High Criminal Court has set March 31, 2026, to announce its verdict in a case involving a man accused of assaulting his business partner (who is also his brother), damaging a company safe, and attempting to set it on fire.

During the hearing, the defense lawyer submitted a waiver from the victim and confirmed that the defendant admitted to the assault. The defense asked the court to dismiss the case based on reconciliation, arguing that there was no real attempt to commit arson because the defendant used water, not a flammable substance.

The Public Prosecution charged the man with attempting to deliberately set fire to company property in a way that could have endangered lives and property. The attempt was not completed for reasons beyond his control. He also faces charges of intentionally damaging company property and assaulting the victim, though the assault did not cause illness or prevent the victim from carrying out his normal activities for more than 20 days.

In its final arguments, the prosecution stated that the evidence proves both the physical act and criminal intent of the accused. Security camera footage reportedly shows him assaulting the victim, damaging the safe, pouring a substance over it and the documents inside, and setting it on fire. The incident damaged the safe and destroyed documents. The prosecution requested the maximum penalty.

The victim told investigators that the defendant arrived at the company extremely angry, assaulted and threatened him, then damaged the safe and tried to burn it. The keypad of the safe was broken after being hit with a tool.

The defendant admitted during questioning that he assaulted his brother but told the court he struck him only once. He denied attempting to set fire to the safe or intentionally damaging company property.
