Bahrain to Host 16th General Assembly of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly Next Week

The Kingdom of Bahrain will host the 16th General Assembly of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) in Manama from January 24 to 28. The event highlights Bahrain’s prominent role in regional and international parliamentary work and underlines its commitment to supporting dialogue and cooperation among Asian countries.

The assembly is being organized under the guidance of His Excellency Ahmed bin Salman Al-Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives and Chair of Bahrain’s Parliamentary Division, with direct oversight from the Secretariats of both the Council of Representatives and the Shura Council. The preparation reflects Bahrain’s advanced progress in parliamentary diplomacy, following the wise approach of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Prime Minister.

The 16th Assembly will take place under the theme: “The Role of Asian Parliaments in Promoting Dialogue Between Cultures and Civilizations in Asia: Opportunities, Challenges, and Future Paths.” The program includes official meetings, general sessions, executive council meetings, standing committee discussions, and bilateral meetings. These activities aim to strengthen parliamentary coordination, share legislative expertise, and enhance institutional cooperation among Asian countries.

The assembly will also provide a platform to showcase Bahrain’s parliamentary experience, highlighting its legislative progress and institutional development. It will emphasize Bahrain’s role in promoting dialogue, coexistence, and parliamentary integration to support the shared aspirations of Asian nations for stability, development, and progress.

Bahrain was announced as the APA’s chair during the 15th General Assembly, held last February in Baku, Azerbaijan, with participation from the Bahraini parliamentary delegation.
