His Majesty King Reviews Master Plan for Revitalisation and Development of Awali City

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the Kingdom of Bahrain, received today at Al-Safriya Palace His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bapco Energies, along with members of the company’s board.

During the meeting, His Highness presented the proposed master plan for the revitalisation and development of Awali City, as part of ongoing national efforts to modernise and develop Bahrain’s cities and villages while preserving their historical and cultural identity.

His Majesty commended and blessed the Awali redevelopment project, which aims to preserve the city’s architectural character and urban heritage. The King praised the dedicated efforts of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, his leadership of the Kingdom’s energy sector, and the continued work of Bapco Energies’ board during this important phase of sectoral development.

On this occasion, His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa expressed his deepest gratitude and appreciation to His Majesty for his wise guidance and support. He explained that the master plan is based on three core principles: preserving Awali’s architectural identity and urban heritage, redeveloping and modernising residential, commercial, and public facilities, and completing the development of vacant lands within the city as interconnected neighbourhoods that complement existing buildings.

His Highness added that the plan includes commercial, office, and residential units, green spaces, and dedicated pedestrian and sports pathways linking existing and new neighbourhoods in a cohesive manner. He stressed that the project aims to create an integrated urban fabric that reflects Awali’s unique character and contemporary lifestyle, while continuing the city’s rich civilisational legacy dating back to 1934.
