Bahrain Welcomes Muscat Agreement on Prisoner Exchange in Yemen
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has welcomed the signing of an agreement in the Omani capital, Muscat, to exchange prisoners and detainees in the sisterly Republic of Yemen. The agreement was reached under the auspices of the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross, with mediation by the sisterly Sultanate of Oman and in cooperation with the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The Ministry described the agreement as a positive and important step toward addressing humanitarian conditions and supporting efforts to achieve a comprehensive and peaceful settlement in Yemen.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s firm and continued support for all international and regional efforts and initiatives aimed at reaching a comprehensive and lasting political solution in Yemen, in line with the Gulf Initiative and its executive mechanism, the outcomes of the Comprehensive National Dialogue Conference, and United Nations Security Council Resolution 2216.
Bahrain emphasized the importance of preserving Yemen’s sovereignty, unity, territorial integrity, and independence, and of fulfilling the aspirations of the Yemeni people for security, peace, stability, and sustainable prosperity.
