Bahrain Sports Records Strong 2025, Eyes Bigger Goals Ahead
HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the General Sports Authority, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, has commended the outstanding achievements of Bahraini sport and Team Bahrain during 2025 across various international competitions.
HH Shaikh Khalid expressed particular pride in the successful hosting of the Asian Youth Games in October 2025, noting that the event underscored the Kingdom of Bahrain’s prominent standing and proven capability in hosting major international sporting championships.
His remarks were made while chairing the seventh meeting of the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, held via videoconference on Tuesday, 23 December 2025.
During the meeting, Shaikh Khalid welcomed all members and praised their collective efforts, which he said contributed to numerous accomplishments over the year. The Board reviewed items on the agenda, approving the minutes of the sixth meeting, as well as endorsing the financial and administrative reports for 2025. Plans related to hosting events and international participations for 2026 were also approved.
The meeting further discussed preparations for Bahrain’s hosting of the Arab Games, with Shaikh Khalid directing the Board to begin early planning and comprehensive preparations. He also instructed officials to intensify readiness for participation in the upcoming Olympic Games in Los Angeles 2028.
In addition, the Board approved the organization of the third annual graduation ceremony of the Bahrain Olympic Academy programs during the first quarter of 2026, as well as the staging of the fifth edition of the Junior Olympics at the end of March 2026.
It was also agreed that dates would be set at a later stage for Bahrain to host the 38th meeting of Their Highnesses, Excellencies, and Distinguished Presidents of the Gulf Olympic Committees, the 108th Executive Bureau meeting, and the General Assembly meeting of the Bahrain Olympic Committee.
