Flyer crackdown

Distributing paper adverts on property façades and private cars breaches Bahrain’s Public Cleanliness Law, the Muharraq Municipal Council has said, urging penalties and a shift to digital ads.
The councils report a rise in flyers being left on homes and windscreens in recent weeks.
The practice, they note, violates the law issued by order of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
Random drops
Residents have complained that random drops on vehicles and doorways add to litter and spoil the street scene.
Eng. Saleh Jassim Bu Hazza, Vice-Chairman of the Muharraq Municipal Council, said the habit harms the look of cities and neighbourhoods, and runs against standards the state seeks to keep under its environmental and development plans.
The council has sent recommendations to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce to set clear rules to curb the practice, and called on businesses to use modern, digital channels in line with social-media growth and the kingdom’s digital shift.
Penalties
Bu Hazza also urged the relevant bodies to apply the penalties set out in the Public Cleanliness Law, and to raise public awareness about keeping Bahrain’s cities clean and attractive.
He added that municipal teams will continue to monitor such cases with the competent authorities, following guidance from the leadership to protect the environment, maintain the built fabric, and strengthen Bahrain’s visual identity
