A reality to rein in

MP sees bid to aid terrorist groups from Bahrain

Manama

Analysing the recent incidents in the region, MP Mohammed Al Maarfi warned that there was a possibility that some people living in Bahrain could have links with the terrorist groups outside. “But we are not accepting this reality,” he remarked.

Speaking to DT News, he said that there was a similarity in the weapons confiscated on the King Hamad Causeway and the ones used in the terrorist activities in Saudi Arabia. “How such a striking similarity can be ignored?” he queried.

“If somebody tries to smuggle the weapons through causeway, it means he puts his life at risk as there was a strong possibility that he would be caught. If somebody really takes that risk it means he cannot do so without a purpose and they might have other bombs too,” he claimed.

Expressing shock at the recent bomb blast in Saudi mosque, Al Maarfi said that there had been statements from Iran’s Revolutionary Guards leaders that Saudi Arabia would have to witness problems such as bombings. “I was surprised by such statements and wanted to know after all what is the connection between these statements and the bombings in Saudi Arabia?”

He urged the government to take extraordinary measures to curb the radicals. “We appeal to the government and army and the Saudi government to look into this matter seriously,” he said.

According to him, the government should increase the power and capacity of the security forces. He said that the tyre burnings and protests were crude in the presence of the elected parliament.
