The head of the Family and Child Prosecution announced that the Public Prosecution received a report from the Ministry of Education regarding a woman operating a kindergarten without a licence.
Judicial officers inspecting the facility found it open and serving programs to around 30 children, despite the woman previously being fined twice for running the kindergarten without proper authorisation. The inspection also revealed violations of safety regulations and non-compliance with guidelines designed to ensure a safe and healthy environment for children.
The Public Prosecution began its investigation by hearing testimony from the Ministry of Education’s judicial officer, then questioned the suspect. She admitted to regularly receiving children and providing educational and recreational activities in exchange for monthly fees from parents, without the necessary licence.
The prosecution ordered her pre-trial detention and placed the premises under seizure, inventorying all contents pending further decisions. Investigations are ongoing ahead of referring the case to the competent criminal court.
