Gulf Air Appoints Martin Gauss as New CEO
Gulf Air Group today announced the appointment of Martin Gauss as Chief Executive Officer of Gulf Air, effective November 4, 2025. The announcement was made by Khalid Taqi, Chairman of Gulf Air Group, who also confirmed the departure of Dr. Jeffrey Goh from his role as Group CEO.
Taqi highlighted Gauss’s extensive experience in airline leadership, transformation programmes, fleet modernisation, and sustainable growth. “I am confident in Martin’s ability to advance Gulf Air, enhance competitiveness, strengthen corporate culture, expand our global network, and improve operational performance, further solidifying Gulf Air’s role as a proud representative of the Kingdom of Bahrain on the international stage,” Taqi said.
Expressing gratitude for Dr. Goh’s contributions, Taqi noted his pivotal role in guiding Gulf Air through the post-COVID-19 recovery. “Dr. Goh implemented strategies that enhanced efficiency, reinforced resilience, maintained service quality, and supported employee development,” Taqi added.
Commenting on his appointment, Martin Gauss said: “I am honoured to join Gulf Air as CEO. The airline has a rich legacy as Bahrain’s national carrier, and I look forward to working with the team to build on this strong foundation. Together, we will continue Gulf Air’s transformation journey and enhance its competitiveness regionally and globally.”
Reflecting on his tenure, Dr. Goh stated: “It has been a great honour to lead Gulf Air Group during this pivotal phase of its journey. I am grateful to the Board, employees, and our partners for their tremendous support. Together, we navigated exceptional challenges and advanced the Group’s transformation. Gulf Air Group has a proud legacy that positions it for continued growth and success.”
Before joining Gulf Air, Martin Gauss served as CEO of airBaltic, Latvia’s national carrier, where he led strategic restructuring and fleet modernisation initiatives that transformed the airline into a profitable and globally recognised carrier. Gauss began his aviation career as a pilot and later held senior leadership roles at several European airlines, including CEO of Deutsche BA (later merged with Air Berlin) and CEO of Cirrus Airlines in Germany.
This leadership transition reflects Gulf Air Group’s commitment to advancing operations, improving efficiency, and ensuring sustainable growth, positioning Bahrain’s national carrier to meet and exceed international standards.
