The Southern Municipality has carried out a large clean-up in Block 955, Hafeera, removing 212 truckloads of abandoned waste.
The operation, run with the help of waste-management firm Urbaser and the private sector, cleared an estimated 3,180 tonnes of rubbish from the site.
The municipality said the move was part of its plan to raise cleanliness standards across the governorate and improve the appearance of residential areas.
Campaign
It added that the campaign was conducted in line with Bahrain’s Public Cleanliness Law No. 10 of 2019, which prohibits the dumping of waste outside designated areas and restricts its sorting or treatment to licensed sites under regulated conditions.
The authority praised the part played by community partners and supporting organisations.
It also said regular field campaigns will continue and called on residents and citizens to report unlawful waste sites through approved channels.
