Bahrain Airport handles 4.46 million travellers in six months

Passenger numbers at Bahrain International Airport reached 4,462,365 in the first six months of 2025, according to newly released figures from the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications.
The total includes arrivals, departures, and transit passengers.
Of the total, 2,223,641 travellers arrived in Bahrain, while 2,254,924 departed.
Transit point
A further 15,800 used the airport as a transit point between flights.
Monthly data shows passenger traffic peaking in January at 812,284.
Numbers dropped to 594,824 in March, before climbing again to 808,695 in April and settling at 780,731 in June.
Traffic
Transit traffic declined sharply after the first quarter. January recorded 4,243 transit passengers, followed by 4,285 in Feb- ruary and 4,264 in March.
April saw a marked fall to 853, with May and June posting 681 and 1,474 respectively.
Flight movements during the same period stood at 48,747 arrivals and departures combined.
Overflying aircraft totalled 262,839. Monthly overflight figures ranged from 40,436 in June to 48,101 in February.
Cargo
The airport also handled 192,073 tonnes of cargo and mail in the first half of the year.
This included inbound, outbound, and transiting loads. In March alone, 14,668 shipments arrived and 9,605 left the country, with 11,371 passing through.
Outgoing shipments
The lowest number of outgoing shipments was recorded in June at 7,518. Civil Aviation Affairs oversees Bahrain’s airspace and flight operations.
Its duties include enforcing safety rules, issuing licences, managing weather services, and carrying out air accident investigations.
