In a deeply spiritual and emotionally significant gathering, the Mata Amritanandamayi Seva Samiti – Bahrain Chapter successfully organized the 11th consecutive annual Pitru Bali (Vavu Bali) ceremony yesterday, at 4:00 AM at the BMC Auditorium, Bahrain.
This sacred ritual, rooted in ancient Hindu tradition, is performed as an offering to one’s ancestors — seeking their blessings, expressing gratitude, and praying for their spiritual liberation.
The early morning ceremony saw a large and heartfelt turnout, with devotees coming together in solemn unity to perform the last rites of their forefathers with deep devotion and reverence.
Grace and sanctity
The rituals were led by the esteemed Moothededath Kesavan Namboothiri, whose presence, precision in Vedic chanting, and spiritual discipline added grace and sanctity to the entire occasion.
Participants performed the sacred ‘pindam’ offerings and other rites with tearful eyes and open hearts, in an atmosphere of calm, purity, and prayer.
This annual observance, now in its 11th year, has become one of the most spiritually important events in the Bahrain Indian community, offering those far from their homeland a chance to reconnect with tradition, culture, and ancestry.
The event was meticulously coordinated under the leadership of Sudheer Thirunilath, Bahrain Coordinator of Mata Amritanandamayi Seva Samiti, with wholehearted support from General Secretary Satheesh Kumar, Patron Krishnakumar, and Executive Committee members Dr. Manoj Kumar, Aneesh Chandran, Santhosh Menon, Manoj UK Vinayan, Santhosh, Shaji ,Pushpa, Hari Mohan, Suresh Kottur, who ensured that all arrangements — from ritual materials to participant comfort — were handled with dedication and care.
Sacred space
Speaking after the ceremony, Sudheer Thirunilath said: “For the past 11 years, this ceremony has provided a sacred space for families to honor their ancestors, no matter how far they are from home. It’s not just a ritual; it is an emotional bond with our roots, our identity, and our culture. We are grateful for the growing participation and blessings that have kept this tradition alive in Bahrain.”
The Mata Amritanandamayi Seva Samiti Bahrain expresses its heartfelt gratitude to all the devotees, volunteers, and well-wishers who contributed to the success of this spiritual gathering.
