Dubai, Turkey top picks this holiday season
Several local travel agency owners claimed that Dubai and Turkey were the favourite travel destinations for Bahrainis wishing to spend the National Day holiday abroad. They said that bookings for Gulf states have increased by 60 per cent, while flights to Europe dropped by 10pc.
Bahrain has announced two-day recess to mark the National Day and HM the King’s 16th Accession Day. They are adjacent to the weekend, making it a total of four-day break.
General manager of Sanad Travel Agency, Sanad Yousif, said flight tickets prices have increased, especially to Dubai and Turkey due to overbooking.
He said that the long duration of holiday played a key-role in increasing the number of travellers.
Trailing Dubai and Turkey was Saudi Arabia, with many Bahrainis wanting to perform Umrah.
On the other hand, Raghad Takriti of Akasia Travel and Tours revealed that many had pre-booked for the National Day holiday right after the Eid Al Adha holiday to avoid the hike in flights prices.
“The flight costs have jumped substantially as air tickets to Turkey that were at BD80, hit BD380 during the National Day holiday,” she said.
