A smuggling attempt fell apart at Bahrain International Airport when a customs officer discovered 4.75kg of drugs glued beneath a suitcase lining, triggering a string of arrests that exposed a cross-border trafficking ring.
The officer, stationed at the airport, became wary of two passengers and their luggage.
A closer look turned suspicion into certainty. Buried beneath the inner lining of their bags, hidden with adhesive, were black nylon packets stuffed with what appeared to be crystal meth. Faced with the find, the pair wasted no time in pointing fingers.
They claimed the drugs belonged to an Asian man still in his home country — the one who had arranged their travel.
