Two jailed for stealing car to do stunts
Manama : Two youngsters were thrown behind bars recently for stealing and burning an elderly man’s car in Sitra.
The case was reviewed yesterday by the Fourth High Criminal Court, which adjourned it to October 16.
The youngsters informed the investigators that they stole the vehicle so that they could perform stunts with it and that they burnt it after they crashed it into a pile of sand.
According to court files, the owner of the vehicle is a 90-years-old Bahraini. He notified the police that his vehicle was stolen from near Sitra Secondary Girls’ School and that he found it burnt in an abandoned land in the same area.
The culprits said in the interrogation that they set fire to the backseat of the car before fleeing the scene. Reports confirmed that 70 per cent of the car was destroyed by the flames.
The Public Prosecution accused both of them of arson, endangering lives and properties and using the vehicle against the owner’s well.
