Sentence upheld in drug peddling case

ManamaA Bahraini man convicted of peddling hashish has had his sentence upheld by the Supreme Appeals Court. 

The defendant was earlier handed down 10 years behind bars along with BD5000 fine. 

The defendant was selling the illicit drug nationwide, 

Following a tip off to the Ministry of Interior a police officer in plain clothes was assigned to establish links with him to catch him red-handed. The undercover agent agreed to buy BD150 of hashish from the defendant and a place of delivery was agreed between them. 

And as soon as the defendant arrived, police officers arrested him. 

In investigations that followed, several pieces of the same drug were unearthed from his house along with two digital scales to weigh the drugs.
