MP urges govt to hire jobless Handball players

A lawmaker yesterday urged the government to hire the unemployed players of the national handball team, considering their achievements for the Kingdom in the international sports arena.

At least 15 of the 21 players of Bahrain National Handball are unemployed, according to Youth and Sports Affairs Parliamentary Committee Chairman Ghazi Al Rahma.

Al Rahma submitted an urgent proposal to the Parliament House during the weekly meeting yesterday, urging the government to provide players with decent jobs in the government sector.

“This is the least we could do to our the players of our national team, who recently qualified for the third consecutive year to the World Cup finals, which is being held in France this year,” he said.

The MP called for rewarding the players for their loyalty and devotion in promoting the Kingdom in international sports arenas.

“The people of Bahrain, led by the Wise Leadership, appreciate the efforts paid by the players of Bahrain National Handball Team players, who also won the second place in the recently-held Asian Handball Games,” he remarked.

Al Rahma added that the proposal to hire unemployed players, if applied, would motivate them to contribute more to their country by displaying better performance and accomplishing more achievements in the future.
