The night turned into a celebration of flair, elegance and creativity as the IB (International Baccalaureate) programme, offered in Bahrain School, laid a platform for students to bring out their creative excellence.

The Night of the Arts event this year offered a variety of musical shows, drama and an art exhibition.

In the art exhibition, five students from the IB Visual Arts programme displayed around 12 art works, which took two years for them to complete.

One of the artists, Angelica Orr, said, “This programme has helped me explore my limits and reach an abstract world of my own emotions.”

Inspired by her Japanese grandmother, she chose to theme her art pieces around a Geisha woman. While her smaller art pieces are simple representations, the bigger ones portray more elaborate and chaotic forms that represent the emotions of the woman in the portrait.

Malaysian student Nadzareen Azizi said , “As IB stresses on creating meaningful art pieces, it helped me appreciate art more than just its aesthetics.”

Therefore, IB English classes became an inspiration for my artworks. John Keats’ Ode on Melancholy became the object of portrayal in my artworks,” she added.

The music shows included jazz, concert and symphonic and combined bands that played soundtracks from Disney movies.
