‘Driving Arab families out of homes is against humanity’

Woman and Child Committee Chairperson MP Roua Bader Al-hayki has strongly condemned the brutal acts of the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) militias that ruthlessly pushed the Syrian Arab families out of their homes.

She was speaking to the DT News in the event of the Amnesty International’s report, published in our newspaper, describing the plight of the Arab families in Syria.

According to the report, the YPG, the military wing of the Kurdish political party, razed the village of Husseiniya in Northern Syria to the ground and the Arab families, who had been living there for decades were ruthlessly driven out of their homes.

About 90 to 95 houses were destroyed and all the Arab families were asked to leave. They were not allowed to take the food or clothes with them.  Many more villages in the Kurdish occupied areas faced the same situation.

“As a Woman and Child committee chairperson, I am concerned about the women and children refugees left without homes,” she remarked.

She said it was quite unfortunate that the number of refugees was increasing day by day.

“I have no words to express my sorrow. I cannot imagine how the women and children will be spending their days and nights without any shelter,” she said.

She said that the silence of the Arab world towards this incident was not digestible, as those driven out of their homes were Arabs.

“Why are the Arabs not responding?” enquired Roua adding, “Driving Arab families out of their homes is against humanity.”
