Modi takes Covid vaccine jab as India begins second phase

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine at New Delhi’s All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Monday morning.
In a tweet from his official handle, Modi said: “Took my first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at AIIMS.”
Modi received Bharat BioTech's Covaxin, according to reports. The prime minister also praised the doctors and scientists for their effort to fight Covid-19. “Remarkable how our doctors and scientists have worked in quick time to strengthen the global fight against COVID-19,” he said, appealing to all those who are eligible to take the vaccine. “Together, let us make India COVID-19 free,” Modi said.
