Oman's Health Ministry withdraws paediatric syrup
Oman's Health Ministry has ordered the withdrawal of Children’s Advil suspension (100mg/500ml) from the market and suspended its sale and prescription.
The decision has been taken due to a manufacturing defect in one batch of the drug, affecting its stability and viscosity.
Manufactured by Pfizer, the drug contains Ibuprofen, which is used as a painkiller, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic.
All healthcare providers at government and private hospitals have been asked to stop dispensing the drug.
The decision pertains to the suspension only.
Other pharmaceutical dosage forms of this drug (tablets and capsules), which are registered and marketed in the sultanate are not included in this decision.
