Rain expected to lash UAE on Wednesday and Thursday
Dubai: Get ready for a wet Wednesday and Thursday in scattered parts of the country as the UAE braces for the effects of a low pressure affecting the eastern UAE.
Parts of Dubai and Sharjah will experience sunny and cloudy weather with some heavy showers at times on Wednesday.
Al Dhaid, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, Jebel Jais, the islands and the internal regions of Al Quaa will receive scattered heavy rainfall on Wednesday, according to the satellite weather forecast of the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS).
Light to moderate showers are expected in Al Ain and the coastal areas of Abu Dhabi such as Sila, Al Ruwais, and Abu Al Abyad.
On Tuesday, heavy to moderate rain lashed different parts of Fujairah and neighbouring villages. A video taken in the Qidfa area posted on NCMS’ official Twitter page showed waterlogged streets after a heavy afternoon shower. Thunderstorms were also noted in some of these areas.
Rain clouds will stay on Thursday and are expected to bring different intensities of rainfall in most parts of the country with Dubai and the northern and eastern emirates getting heavy rainfall and the western region some light showers.
Forecasters are urging motorists to exercise caution on the road and allow safe distance between cars while driving, especially on wet roads.
In the evening and early morning, the relative humidity will increase, giving rise to fog or mist formation.
