Train Derails in Northwestern France, 44 Injured

Cleon: A passenger train travelling from Rouen to Caen derailed near Cléon in Normandy, northwestern France, on Friday evening, leaving 44 people injured, including an 18 years old woman who suffered serious injuries and airlifted to a hospital in Rouen.
The train, which was carrying 186 passengers, derailed at approximately 7:45 p.m. local time. Authorities triggered a mass-casualty emergency response plan, sending 130 firemen, five medical teams, and over 80 vehicles to the scene.
The remaining 43 injured passengers were treated for minor injuries, and those who were unharmed were sent to a neighbouring facility. The train driver tested negative for both alcohol and drugs.
Rail service between Rouen and Caen, as well as Caen and Le Havre, was suspended as rescuers worked on the scene. Police have launched an inquiry to discover what caused the disaster, with officials claiming the exact circumstances are unknown.
