Damascus: At least two people were killed and 13 others injured after a bomb planted inside a minibus exploded in the Syrian town of Jaramana, near the capital Damascus, authorities said.
The explosion ripped through the vehicle, blowing off its roof and scattering debris across the road. Syrian state media, citing an official source, said preliminary findings indicated that the blast was caused by a bomb placed inside the minibus. No group has claimed responsibility.
Jaramana, a suburb of Damascus, is home to Druze and Christian communities. Emergency services rushed to the scene, while forensic teams worked to identify human remains and assist the victims.
The attack comes as Syria's new Islamist authorities continue efforts to restore security following the overthrow of former president Bashar al-Assad in December 2024. However, Damascus and its surrounding areas have continued to witness attacks targeting civilians and security forces.
