5.8-Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Philippines, Felt in Manila

Manila: A 5.8-magnitude earthquake struck off Occidental Mindoro province in the western Philippines on Friday and was felt in the capital, Manila, prompting precautionary evacuations from some buildings.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said the quake struck at a depth of 10 kilometres, about 21 kilometres southwest of Mamburao in Occidental Mindoro.
Office workers in parts of Manila were evacuated as a precaution after the tremor was felt in the city.
PHIVOLCS said no significant damage was expected from the earthquake, but warned that aftershocks were possible.
