Abu Dhabi: To honour the UAE's culinary legacy, an entrepreneur in Abu Dhabi turned the simple date palm into a variety of unique ice cream tastes, utilising ingredients such as roasted date seeds, fresh dates, palm pollen, and palm fronds.
Amira, Ice Station's founder, came up with the idea of incorporating traditional Emirati ingredients into a modern dessert. She has created 447 natural ice cream flavours over the years, drawing inspiration from famous local sweets like luqaimat, balaleet, and aseeda, but avoiding artificial colours, flavourings, and ready-made mixes.
Years of experimentation, including testing dozens of recipes and wearing out many ice cream machines, helped refine the items, according to the entrepreneur. Despite getting foreign franchise offers, she has decided to concentrate on maintaining quality and promoting distinctive Emirati tastes.
Along with teaching locals and tourists to the rich history of the UAE through ice cream, Amira hopes her innovations will help establish Abu Dhabi as a destination for premium natural soft serve.
