Qatar, Canada Discuss Regional Security

Prime Minister Shaikh Mohammed, Canadian Foreign Minister review bilateral ties and call for dialogue

Qatar's Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, held a telephone conversation on Monday with Canada's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Anita Anand, to discuss bilateral cooperation and the latest regional developments.

During the call, the two ministers reviewed the strong cooperation between Qatar and Canada and explored ways to further strengthen ties across areas of mutual interest.

They also exchanged views on recent developments in the region, focusing on ongoing diplomatic efforts and joint coordination to ease tensions and promote security and stability.

Sheikh Mohammed stressed the importance of all parties remaining committed to dialogue and diplomacy. He also underscored the need to implement the commitments outlined in the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran, including measures to ensure freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, which he said are essential to safeguarding regional security, preserving recent progress, and enhancing long-term stability.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed Qatar's full support for all diplomatic initiatives aimed at reducing tensions and reaching a comprehensive agreement that would help secure lasting peace across the region.
