Venezuelans Hold Minute of Silence One Month After Deadly Earthquakes

Caracas: Venezuelans observed a minute of silence to remember those who died and injured by the devastating earthquakes that shook the country a month ago.
The tribute came a month after twin earthquakes of magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 struck Venezuela on June 24. The disaster killed approximately 5,500 people, injured almost 17,000, and displaced over 23,000 people, while hundreds of structures were damaged.
The minute of silence was observed at 6:04 p.m., precisely when the accident hit. Rescue volunteers and families searching for missing loved ones interrupted their work at a wrecked building in Tanaguarena, La Guaira, to offer prayers.
The mournful tribute provided a moment of memories for the victims and affected communities dealt with the devastation and challenging recovery process.
